The night that I wait for every year has finally arrived! The air was so warm this afternoon that I opened the sliding door and closed the screen. So I was in a perfect position to hear when the peeper chorus started just now. The sky was that lambent blue that makes me thirsty because it looks so delicious. There was a red-winged blackbird in the oak tree a couple of days ago, the usual nuthatches have been joined by a redbreasted one,a woodpecker that otherwise looks like a downy showed up in the cherry tree with a glittering, red throat (just like a hummingbird's, only larger) and the turkeys have been sitting in the underbrush gossiping all day. A couple of larger frogs just chimed in, unwilling to let the tree frogs get all the attention.

Even though the bulbs have only put up leaves, there's no denying it: It's spring!

Enjoy it with me.
