Carrie Barefoot Dickerson 1917 - 2006 Mission Statement The Carrie Dickerson Foundation is organized to provide safe and sustainable environmental solutions and energy education and to ensure that the work begun by Carrie Dickerson is documented and continued. What Carrie Dickerson Stood For Although Carrie Dickerson may be best known for her struggle to prevent the construction of Black Fox, she was not just against nuclear pollution, she was for non-polluting power, and in her mid-80s she conceived the idea of publishing a series of books to inform generations who had not yet been born during her war against Black Fox of viable alternatives to nuclear and fossil-fuel power sources. She approved the final draft of the first, Harvesting the Wind, Fourteen Centuries of Wind Power, the afternoon before her death last November. Carrie Dickerson's positive outlook extended far beyond her support for sustainable energy sources. She felt strongly that people who disagreed with her were NOT the enemy; they were just people who hadn't yet seen the light and become her friends and supporters. She accepted and, indeed, welcomed support from people in the nuclear industry and whose political stances she opposed. The Carrie Dickerson Foundation is an IRS-approved 502 (c) 3 not-for-profit corporation. Tax deductible donations may be sent in care of : Janet Hutto, Executive Director |
